Call for nominations to the 2022 IAVCEI Award for Volcano Surveillance and Crisis Management
Dear colleagues,
We officially open today the call for nominations to the 2022 IAVCEI Award for Volcano Surveillance and Crisis Management, which will be delivered in June 2022 during the COV-11 Conference in Crete (Heraklion, Greece).
The IAVCEI Award for Volcanic Surveillance and Crisis Management (VSCM) honors the personnel from Institutions or Organizations responsible for monitoring volcanoes (volcano observatories and/or other institutions) that have made a remarkable contribution to the mitigation of volcanic hazards and volcanic risks. Criteria for eligibility include: successful hazard assessment and mitigation efforts, effective volcano surveillance and eruption forecasting, and/or effective crisis management.
The VSCM Award is presented every two years on occasion of Cities on Volcanoes Conferences. The Previous Awardees were:
2018 – Center for Volcanology and Geologic Hazards Mitigation (CVGHM) (Pusat Vulkanologi an Mitigasi Bencana Geologi) – INDONESIA
2020 – Instituto Geofisico Escuelo Polytecnica Nacional (IGEPN) – ECUADOR
